A Message from John Thrower |
THE FAMILY BBQ AND DOWN HOME MUSIC DAY ON JULY 3rd WAS A GREAT SUCCESS! Thursday July 3rd was great evening of thanking God for our blessed country, great food and fellowship and bluegrass music. The day was overcast and the possibility of rain was ever present. The library staff held a short time of prayer at 1:00 PM asking the Lord to keep back the rain so that we could celebrate with our library families. Tom Mathews, Jerry Kellum and Paul Brown arrived about 2:00 to begin grilling the hamburgers and hotdogs. We started under the cover of the buildings overhang, but we were soon smoking out our library as well as the American Red Cross. After fighting the smoke for about half an hour we moved the grills out into the courtyard. That made all the difference. The smoke began clearing and the rain still held off. The cooks grilled 320 hamburgers and 280 hotdogs and were finished at 4:30 - these men are kings of the grill. As soon as the meat was put in warming trays under the canopy, the sky opened up and poured down rain. We thought that we may get rained out. |
