May 2010:
Plants, Flowers & Things That Grow by Matthew Coad When God created Adam, He put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it (Genesis 2:15).
May is the time of year when many of us take up Adam’s task again—the task of working and keeping a garden. The task is more difficult for us than it was for him at first, because the ground was cursed for the sake of his sin, and it still tends to yield thorns and thistles in spite of our best efforts (Genesis 3:18). But when the Second Adam came, He began the work of turning back that curse. When He returns, the curse will finally be broken, and the creation as well as we will be set free. "For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God."
--Romans 8:20-21
